This unique First Day Cover has been produced to mark the recolonization of the island of Rockall by an intrepid team of adventurers from the famous Rockall Times, on or about the 11-24th June 2005.
This daring feat is being undertaken in aid of MEdia, a top notch project by well-respected charity, Mental Health Media.
The Rockall Times Team are:
Al Baker, Dr Moff Betts, Angus Budge, James Cameron, John Cunningham, Lester Haines: Rockall Times Editor, Trevor Lockie, Wolfgang Schaub, Ian Trumpess, Dave Wood.
The design of this cover is based upon a Royal Naval Chart formed from a survey done by Captain Vidal R.N. of H.M.S. Pike in 1831, and was designed by Bernard Pearson.
The cover has two stamps one designed by Bernard Pearson which shows the Discworld island of Leshp. This island features in the Discworld novel 'Jingo' by Terry Pratchett, and has an uncanny resemblance to Rockall in more ways than one.
